Follow-up care
In our gynaecological practice, in addition to preventive care, we also offer appropriate follow-up care after illnesses, operations or childbirth.
It is important to recognise healing delays in good time and to be able to react quickly in the event of problems. In addition, there are of course always a lot of questions, all of which we will discuss and clarify with you in confidence.
After birth
Giving birth is a huge turning point in a woman's life. It marks the beginning of a completely new phase of life, which comes with lots of joy, but of course also many fears and questions.
We would like to help you with advice and support. In addition to our professional expertise, as we have children ourselves we can well understand the perspective of mothers.
We will examine you 6-8 weeks after your birth to check for any birth injuries, uterine involution and pelvic floor function. We will also advise you regarding difficulties with breastfeeding. In addition, we will discuss with you your contraceptive method.
Some women suffer from severe depression, irritability or pronounced exhaustion (so-called ‘baby blues’). This condition is usually temporary and caused by the physiological drop in hormones. If this condition persists, we can refer you to professional help.
After surgery
After our referral to a clinic for surgery, we will of course provide you with the appropriate aftercare and follow-up examinations at our gynaecological practice.
We check the results of the operation, monitor the healing process, discuss the histological examination and give you recommendations regarding further protection and behavioural measures after your operation.
After cancer
The diagnosis of cancer is always a huge shock at first.
Many questions arise, combined with fears, uncertainty and helplessness.
We always take a lot of time here!
You are always welcome to bring someone you trust (partner, mother, daughter, sister, friend) with you to your appointment.
We will then discuss in detail what type of cancer you have, what diagnostics are still required, what the best therapy is for you, what the prognosis is and what you can and should do to support yourself.
As soon as the primary treatment has been carried out (usually an operation), we offer follow-up appointments every 3 months for the first 3 years after diagnosis. A physical examination takes place here, primarily to recognise a possible recurrence in good time. We offer counselling and support in the event of side effects from medication or therapies. Lifestyle changes can also be helpful.
In the case of pronounced anxiety, we refer patients to psycho-oncologists for support.
After 3 years, the aftercare intervals are reduced to six-monthly appointments, and after 5 years the aftercare is completed. After this time, the risk of recurrence usually decreases significantly. However, you are welcome to continue to come every six months for an examination and consultation, as most women feel safer and more comfortable.
The good news is that the prognosis for most cancers has improved significantly in recent years, not least thanks to better, new drugs.
However, it still goes without saying that the earlier a cancer is recognised, the better the treatment options and chances of recovery.
