Menopause

Am I going through the menopause?

Many women over the age of 40 ask themselves this question and suddenly notice physical and emotional changes that can be very unsettling. We want to advise, accompany and support you during this important transitional phase.
The last menstruation (also known as the menopause) takes place on average at the age of 51, after which the ovaries completely cease to function. The last 7-10 years before the last menstrual period are known as the perimenopause. The perimenopause is characterised by pronounced hormonal fluctuations, which can cause a wide range of symptoms that we often do not initially associate primarily with the menopause. Around 80 per cent of all women experience perimenopausal symptoms. These include:

  • Bone, muscle and joint pain, decrease in bone density, decrease in muscle mass, weight gain, especially in the abdominal area
  • Palpitations
  • Concentration disorders, forgetfulness, brain fog, hot flushes, sleep disorders, mood swings, intensification of depressive symptoms, intensification of anxiety, loss of libido
  • dry mucous membranes: vaginal dryness, frequent bladder infections, pain during sexual intercourse, pain in the bladder, altered sensation in the clitoris, poor gum health, itchy ears, flatulence, poorer vision, dry mouth

The good news is that we can work with you to treat these symptoms through hormonal or non-hormonal measures (diet and nutritional supplements or micronutrient therapy, exercise) and most women can go through this new phase of life with confidence and strength!

Counselling and treatment of symptoms

We start by assessing your symptoms, your personal level of suffering and your personal health risk profile. We then advise you on non-hormonal measures and, if necessary, on hormone replacement therapy with bioidentical hormones.

Bioidentical hormones have 100% the same chemical structure as the hormones produced by your ovaries. This means that these hormones have hardly any undesirable effects in contrast to the chemically structurally different hormones that you may be familiar with from the contraceptive pill. Hormone replacement therapy therefore replaces hormones that your body no longer produces itself.

The treatment of menopausal symptoms with bioidentical hormones has been scientifically proven to be the most successful therapy for reducing symptoms and also has prophylactic, positive effects. For example, it reduces your risk of osteoporosis.

If you would like to find out more about the menopause, we regularly organise information evenings. The next dates can be found under News. Please register by telephone if you would like to attend.
